Ned Yost in dugout, Royals

The Kansas City Royals announced today that manager Ned Yost and trainer Nick Kenney have been named to the American League All-Star Team staff.

Of course the 2012 All-Star Game will be played in Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium on July 10.

Yost joins Oakland Athletics’ manager Bob Melvin on the AL staff, chosen by Texas Rangers and AL All-Star team manager, Ron Washington. 2012 marks Yost’s second All-Star staff selection as a MLB manager. The first in 2005, in the National League with the Milwaukee Brewers. Yost was also a part of Bobby Cox’s NL All-Star staff as a Braves coach in 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 2000.

In his third season as Royals head athletic trainer, Nick Kenney is making his first trip to the All-Star staff. Lonnie Soloff, the head athletic trainer of the Cleveland Indians joins Kenney on the staff.

Does Ned Yost deserve to attend the All-Star Game on the staff?
