It has been quite a while (36 games) since we last checked in on the home run paces of the members of the Kansas City Royals offense. The offensive power has been interesting and the paces have jumped back up a bit, but the question Royals fans always find themselves asking – Will Steve Balboni’s team home run record of 36 (1985) ever be broken?
While no member of the Royals is currently on pace to break Balboni’s record, but Billy Butler is back on pace to knock more than 30.
2B Yuniesky Betancourt is the only Royals player to hit multiple home runs since our last check-in, hitting two home runs while playing seven games.
Home run pace is based on projected games played based on the number of games played through the first 95 team games. Of course, Salvador Perez and Lorenzo Cain will likely play more than the “pace” listed since both missed a lot of time to injury in the first half of the season.
