The Kansas City Royals have signed catcher Jason Kendall to a minor league contract Thursday morning. Kendall has been assigned to the double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Kendal spent 2010 and 2011 as a member of the Royals, but missed the end of the 2010 season and the entire 2011 season due to a shoulder injury.
In 2010, Kendall caught 118 games and batted .256/.318/.297 with zero home runs and 37 RBI. In his career, Kendall has been an All-Star three times (1996, 1998, 200 all with Pittsburgh), won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1996 and batted .288/.366/.378 with 75 HR and 744 RBI in 2085 games played through 15 MLB seasons.
Yesterday, I speculated Brayan Pena could be on the move in a trade…
Does the signing of Kendall confirm Pena will be on the move?
